Revolutions - A justified Means of Change? :: Political Politics

Revolutions - A justified Means of Change? Since the beginning of time, revolutions have directed the progression of most societies. Not only have they improved the lives of many, but they have also been the cornerstones to building some of todays most powerful and democratic countries. Most people have heard of the French and American Revolutions, however history tells us there have been hundreds more, from small town Revolution to major countries. Revolutions are justified means of change because they help to motivate and inspire people to press for rights that in turn will benefit the country and future generations as a whole. Most revolutions occur because of widespread dissatisfaction with an existing system. Poverty and injustice under cruel, corrupt, or incapable rulers combined with social problems is a recipe for disaster. One can only push people so far. If other ways of establishing the changes that must be made does not work, then creating a revolution might be the only option left. The French Revolution abolished absolute monarchy, feudal privileges, and serfdom, removed the estates, and established equal liability to taxation. The revolution also began reforms in the fields of education and law. How can anyone say that the revolution proved detrimental to France? The other intangible results of the revolution were embodied in its ideals, "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity," which became the platform of liberal, democratic reforms in France and Europe in the 19th century. The American Revolution ended two centuries of British rule for the 13 colonies and created the modern United States of America. The Revolutionary era was an exhilarating and productive time for most people living in North America. In the wake of the Revolution came events as varied as the drafting and ratification of the Constitution of the United States of America, which ensured that the rights of all Americans were to be protected, and to guarantee that all people would be involved in running the country with their form of government, democracy. The basic makeup of this was to ensure that all citizens were treated equal. This prompted the phrase "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". Revolutions are not perfect, and there are always negative aspects to a revolution. They do not always create a better country, or even resolve the issues that proposing the revolution were for, and in some cases lead to worse conditions than what the country had to begin with.

Effect on the Skeletal System of Young People Performing Contact

Activity is beneficial for people of all ages. People who are fit will, in general live longer and maintain a more active and fulfilling lifestyle. However there are some downsides to physical activity, in particular at high level. A large majority of ageing athletes suffer from long term injuries such as the poor state of someone’s knee. It is generally regarded that contact sports are beneficial to children. This is due to the fact that the majority of bone density material is developed when the person is young. This is beneficial to people because many bone diseases such as osteoporosis are connected to low bone density and inactivity as a young adult. On the flip-side when competing in high impact sport there is a very high chance of some sort of injury occurring along the way. For example if someone dislocates their shoulder playing rugby, it is more than likely that this will trouble them in the future. In addition to this when playing contact sports, the joints that are covered in articular cartilage can be worn away at a more rapid rate. Indeed, some injuries even lead to the cartilage being taken out altogether. This is a negative effect of contact sports on the skeletal system of young people as they may well end up suffering from osteoarthritis later in life. Osteoarthritis is thought to be related to cartilage being worn down to the point that the bone is no longer protected. High impact sport is generally considered to be a beneficial activity to people of all ages. Similar to contact sport, when competing in high impact sport the bone mass is built up. This is due to the fact that when someone runs solidly for half an hour, bones such as the tibia will suffer from tiny fragments breaking of the main bone. When this subsequently re-heals it will be stronger than it was before and allow for more exercise to be done on it. However, a high impact sport such as hockey, basketball or netball can be quite dangerous as it is thought that anterior cruc iate ligament injuries appear to be very common among sports that involve a lot of pivoting. Damage to this particular ligament can have a lasting affect on an athletes career and even put them out of action for good. The anterior cruciate ligament is so important because it prevents hyperextension in the knee.Women have even more problems with this ligament due to anatomical differences. This is a big disadvantage in young people competing in high impact sports as it could prevent them at a young age from taking part in anything ever again. In young people, especially teenager’s repetitive injuries often occur the at growth plates. Repetitive injuries occur when repeatedly over time the body doesn’t have a chance to repair, and the joints and surrounding tendons and muscles become irritated. The chance of repetitive stress injuries can be reduced by simple things, such as having a rest period where the body has time to recover. In addition to this using proper equipmen t also is a big factor, such as using proper running shoes to run in. If repetitive stress injuries go untreated then it is likely that the performer will have to stop competing in physical activity for a long period of time. Although serious, repetitive stress injuries can be avoided by using the correct precautions and are pretty much controlled by the performer as a pose to the outside environment. In summary of this it is clear that the different types of physical activity discussed above all have their positive sides and negative sides. However, in my opinion the positives of by far outweigh the negatives. Physical activity brings about so many other positives as well as just the physical aspects. Such as when participating in team sport a sense of unity, self confidence etc. These positives, for me, far outweigh the possibility of injury occurring. In addition to this if we always worried about things happening to us nothing would ever be done, we would just sit at home. Theref ore I think the rewards of physical activity far outweigh the negatives.

C Programming Language for Beginners

C is a programming language invented in the early 1970s by Dennis Ritchie as a language for writing operating systems. The purpose of C is to precisely define a series of operations that a computer can perform to accomplish a task. Most of these operations involve manipulating numbers and text, but anything that the computer can physically do can be programmed in C. Computers have no intelligence — they have to be told exactly what to do and this is defined by the programming language you use. Once programmed they can repeat the steps as many times as you wish at very high speed. Modern PCs are so fast they can count to a billion in a second or two. What Can a C Program Do? Typical programming tasks include  putting data into a database  or pulling it out, displaying high-speed graphics in a game or video, controlling electronic devices attached to the PC or even playing music and/or sound effects. You can even write software to generate music or help you compose. Is C the Best Programming Language? Some computer languages were written for a specific purpose. Java was originally devised to control toasters, C for programming Operating Systems, and Pascal to teach good programming techniques but C was intended to be more like a high-level assembly language which could be used to port applications to different computer systems. There are some tasks that can be done in C but not very easily, for example designing GUI screens for applications. Other languages like Visual Basic, Delphi and more recently C# have GUI design elements built into them and so are better suited for this type of task. Also, some scripting languages that provide extra programmability to applications like MS Word and even Photoshop tend to be done in variants of Basic, not C. Which Computers Have C? The bigger question is, which computers dont have C? The answer — almost none, as after 30 years of use it is virtually everywhere. It is particularly useful in embedded systems with limited amounts of RAM and ROM. There are C compilers for just about every type of operating system.   How Do I Get Started With C? First, you need a C compiler. There are many commercial and free ones available. The list below has instructions for downloading and installing the compilers. Both are completely free and include an IDE to make life easier for you to edit, compile and debug your applications. Download and Install Microsofts Visual C 2005 Express EditionDownload and Install Open Watcom C/C Compiler The instructions also show you how to enter and compile your first C application. How Do I Begin Writing C Applications? C code is written using a text editor. This can be notepad or an IDE like those supplied with the three compilers listed above. You write a computer program as a series of instructions (called statements) in a notation that looks a little like mathematical formulas. This is saved out in a text file and then compiled and linked to generate machine code which you then can run. Every application you use on a computer will have been written and compiled like this, and many of them will be written in C. You cant usually get hold of the original source code unless it was open source. Is There Plenty of C Open Source? Because it is so widespread, much open source software has been written in C. Unlike commercial applications, where the source code is owned by a business and never made available, open source code can be viewed and used by anyone. Its an excellent way to learn coding techniques.   Could I Get a Programming Job? Fortunately, there are many C jobs out there and an immense body of code exists that will need updating, maintaining and occasionally rewriting. The top three most popular programming languages according to the quarterly Tiobe.com survey, are Java, C, and C. You could write your own games but youll need to be artistic or have an artist friend. Youll also need music and sound effects. Find out more about game development. Games like Quake 2 and 3 were written in C and the code is available free online for you to study and learn from it. Perhaps a professional 9-5 career would suit you better- read about a professional career or perhaps consider entering the world of software engineering writing software to control nuclear reactors, aircraft, space rockets or for other safety-critical areas.
